My name is Gwendolyn Harrell and I am the Lead Counselor at Anne Street Elementary School. I am utterly enthusiastic to become part of the Anne Street Community. Before becoming the Lead Counselor, I served in the following educational capacities: Elementary School Counselor (4 years), High School Counselor (6 years), ELA & Math-Co-Teacher/SPED Lead Teacher (9 years), and Special Education Self-Contained Teacher (10 years).
I am the mother of one daughter who is a graduate from the University of North Carolina @ Chapel Hill. I enjoy being a mother and serving as the Christian Education Director/Minister at my church. I also love traveling and meeting new people wherever I go.
My personal beliefs are as follows:
* I believe that all students have the capacity to learn through different learning styles.
* I believe that every student is entitled to the best quality education by the best equipped teachers in our district.
* I believe that it takes all stakeholders to address the educational and socio-emotional needs of our students in today's global society.
· I believe that educators have impacted the lives of students where they have been equipped and empowered to become productive citizens in this evolving society.
"It takes a village to raise a child "is an African proverb that means that an entire community of people must interact with children for the children to experience and grow in a safe and healthy environment. The villagers look out for the children. We are the villagers. So by the same token, we will look after your children as if they are our own. If you will trust your children with us, then we will ensure that they will receive the best quality education that is afforded them in a safe environment.
