Dear Anne Street Elementary Families,
Welcome to the 2021-22 school year! I am thrilled to welcome you back to school. It is truly an honor for me to serve as your principal at Anne Street Elementary. I am privilege to work with an outstanding staff to make it a smooth transition for our returning students. I would also like to extend a warm welcome to our new families to Anne Street ES. We are excited to work closely with you to ensure the success and well-being of all of our students.
We have been working all summer diligently to plan for a safe and engaging opening of school and to implement best practices to continue to mitigate the risks associated with Covid-19. A stronger emphasis will be placed on social and emotional learning as we implement the Second Step program in all of our K-5 classrooms.
ASE is a special place to learn and grow with a rich history of generations of families who attended. We are embarking upon a new year with new norms for teaching and learning. Our staff and students are kind, compassionate, and inquisitive. Together with our dedicated staff, we strive to connect with students to help them feel valued, accepted, and safe. Our ASE motto of “Forward Thinking, Fostering Passions, Developing Responsible Citizens, and Preparing for Tomorrow’s Opportunities” will continue to guide our mission to provide and prepare each student for college and career readiness by providing a quality character and standards-based education. Our goal is to encourage active student engagement to foster a lifetime love for learning.
Partnering with families will continue to be crucial this year as we work diligently to bridge learning gaps. We appreciate your support as you work with students at home to practice safety protocols. As of date, "the use of masks by GSCS staff and students will be optional in the upcoming 2021-2022 school year." Some mitigation protocols will remain in effect as suggested by the Department of Public Health, CDC, and the governor's office. These include three-foot social distancing to the extent possible and sanitizing large spaces.
We encourage families to be connected and informed by following the district website for important updates and information regarding our current plans.
Best regards,
Dr. Seabrook Royal
