Congratulations to an exceptional GSCS alumni, Jhaycee Barnes. Spalding High School class of 2022 graduate, Jhaycee Barnes, of Griffin Georgia, was inaugurated as the University of Georgia (UGA) Student Government Association Vice President on April 8, 2025, marking the beginning of the university’s 38th SGA administration . A third-year college student majoring in economics and political science, Barnes ran on the “Impact” ticket alongside President-elect John Neely and Treasurer-elect Talha Ali . She is pictured with Neely and Ali and with UGA President Jere Morehead. Jhaycee Barnes was student body president at Spalding High. She was also Valedictorian and Star Student during her time in Griffin-Spalding County Schools (GSCS). Beginning April 22, 2025 - May 9, 2025, GSCS students will participate in the Georgia Milestones Assessment System (GMAS). GMAS measures how well students have learned and mastered the state content standards in ELA, math, science and social studies. On Wednesday, April 2, 2025 from 6pm to 7pm, Southern Crescent Technical College (Griffin Campus) will host "A Night of Literacy for Parents and Children". It will be a fun-filled literacy night that will have engaging reading stations, free books to take home and refreshments. Parents will also participate in a dedicated session to learn valuable strategies for fostering literacy at home.
